Keep Your Teeth White Following Whitening

Keep Your Teeth White Following Whitening

Once you've had professional whitening done on your teeth, you’ll probably want to keep your smile looking bright! Here's a few tips on how to keep your smile white after teeth whitening treatment.

Brush & Floss Thoroughly

To keep your teeth white, brushing and flossing regularly and thoroughly is essential. Your oral hygiene routine will help you to remove surface stains and keep them from setting in. You should brush your teeth twice daily, for two minutes at a time, and floss your teeth at least once a day.

Be thorough! Gently brush all four quadrants of your mouth, and don’t stop until you have completed two full minutes of brushing. An electric toothbrush with a round, rotating head really helps with this process. In fact, many electric toothbrushes come with built in timers to let you know when the two minutes is up.

Avoid Dark-Coloured Foods and Drinks

Dark, pigmented foods and drinks can cause tooth discolouration over time. Dark berries, coffee, tea, and even spices like curry, should be consumed in moderation in order to avoid staining.

Quit Smoking

If you need another reason to quit smoking, consider your teeth. Smoking often discolours teeth, turning them yellow or even brown over time.

To keep your smile sparkling white, throw those smokes in the trash!

Occasional Touch Ups

Over time, the effects of your whitening treatment may wear off somewhat. If this happens, it could be time for a touch up! You can re-use the whitening trays you already have, and just order some more of the whitening solution.
